I've been busy scanning photographs lately. Several events have led to developments that augur well for the website.
I am being coy to avoid the kibosh, the jinx and the well placed
banana skin but it is fair to say I'm excited over recent
proceedings.
Note the new Tom Penrose section in Local History, a great
addition to the website that happened quite by chance. I was standing
on the first tee at Te Marua Golf Course wondering if I'll ever
see a decent flood again when I got to talking with a chap also
braving the drizzling rain. After listening to me prattle on about the
website George suggested I should get in touch with Mr Penrose. If you
read this, George, many thanks for the tip.
Tom's recording of the aftermath of the slip and the recovery
operation is comprehensive, I'm very fortunate to be able to share
the sequence with visitors. This fortuitous meeting bore other fruit
too, Tom has also made available his St Pat's College yearbooks
1952-1956. These will be scanned as soon possible.
...more to come.

Currently updating the Brown Owl section, that area will be broken
until tomorrow. I updated the St Pat's section the other day, 1952 -
1956, cheers Tom.

459 new images now available in the Brown Owl section.

Uploaded new Brown Owl candid photos, new Upper Hutt College
photos, small FAQ update. Hope to get some more panoramas up very
soon. I always make sure to get out and take a few photos but the
distractions are many these days and the days are about to
get busier. All good for the site though, definitely
good.

I've uploaded a bunch of St Pat's Blue and White magazines, I decided
to do each year properly, instead of just selected images. More to come
as and when I get the rest completed.
I've had a stroke of good fortune too, one of the collections I've
scanned for the Library was donated to them by Revelle Jackson.
Many of you will have some of his photographs in your family albums, he
was professionally active in Upper Hutt from the 1950s through to the
1980s. I can't expect the Library to accomodate my every request
(I'd be happy to host all these, y'know, g'wan g'wan) but I have been
given consent to create indexes of many of the scans from the Revelle
Jackson Collection and host those on the site so people can see what is
available from the Library. I'll be dividing my time between scanning
the remaining Blue and Whites and creating those indexes. Keep an eye
out for them, if you went to Santa Claus in the late 1960s you are
probably in a couple of the pictures. I wasn't in any of them though,
my parents have some explaining to do.

I've uploaded 158 indexes created from scans of the Revelle
Jackson Collection. Look for these in the Local History section. If you
were alive in the 60s and early 70s you may appear in some of the
indexes. Hopefully you may rediscover photos you'd thought lost forever
or photos you didn't know existed. Happy hunting.
